The disease incidence also varies across ethnic backgrounds. The percentage population of Hispanic children with the condition was 26.2% between 2017 and 2020 while that of non-Hispanic Black Children was about 24% (CDC, 2022)The Prevalence Of Obesity Among Children Discussion. Non-Hispanic white children with obesity accounted for 16.6% of the population while 9% were non-Hispanic Asian children. The statistics reveal a high prevalence of obesity among children in the country (Abduelkarem et al., 2020). Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to present childhood obesity as a population health problem and to propose measures to address the problem.

Legislative Intent | The bill is trying to reduce the incidence of obesity among children through awareness creation and development of programs that encourage healthy eating and physical exercises in educational, early care, and family settings. The most interesting thing about the bill is that it takes a preventive approach to obesity by targeting the three main settings in which children spend most of their time. |
If passed, the bill will be an effective legislation in preventing the occurrence of obesity among children. |
The Federal Government should Provide Resources to States and Education institutions to Reduce the Occurrence of Childhood Obesity (Position)
Global childhood obesity continues to increase with the changing lifestyle. The available treatments are less effective in addressing the condition (Koletzko et al., 2020). Hence, prevention is the best approach to the occurrence of the disease (World Health Organization, 2022)The Prevalence Of Obesity Among Children Discussion. Evidence shows significant benefits that accompany healthy nutrition during early childhood feeding.

Addressing Opponents
Opponents should understand the impact of their products on the health of children. Although the bill encourages a lifestyle change, it does not deter families and children from purchasing fast foods and candies. The bill will, therefore, have little impact on them.
Conclusion
Addressing public healthcare issues such as childhood obesity requires a multi-stakeholder approach. The Federal government should work with the healthcare sector and state departments of health to develop and support programs that will translate to reduced cases of obesity. Additionally, the bill should be passed to enable the programs to run in educational, early care, and family settings. The interventions will help reduce the occurrence of childhood obesity The Prevalence Of Obesity Among Children Discussion.

About 18% of high school students smoke a cigarette, and over 8 million adolescent young males reported the use of smokeless tobacco (American Cancer Society, 2012)The Prevalence Of Obesity Among Children Discussion. Tobacco use is the largest preventable cause of death and disease in the United States (CDC, 2016). The economic impact of tobacco use and smoking-related illness in the United States costs more than $300 billion each year (CDC, 2016)The Prevalence Of Obesity Among Children Discussion.
