The Outcomes Of Evidence-Based Nursing Research Discussion

Pleas respond to the below discussion post

The outcomes of evidence-based nursing research to improve patient care is imperative. Researching existing problems in healthcare allows for secure validation of results, and completing research is done by disseminating the findings (Black et al., 2015)The Outcomes Of Evidence-Based Nursing Research Discussion.

Dissemination of the result of my planned research project will involve power point presentations in hospitals and clinics, social media, conferences, and other health-related events that focus on evidence-based research. My goal is to reach the specific individuals the research findings impact the most (Curtis et al., 2016). The translation of my research findings is essential. For example, many times, research results are not easily understood. Evaluating the power and validity is complex and time-consuming (Curtis et al., 2016). To overcome challenges in disseminating research utilizing “knowledge distillation” is recommended (Curtis et al., 2015). The process summarizes findings from the most accurate study about the desired problem into guidelines for better presentation (Curtis et al., 2015)The Outcomes Of Evidence-Based Nursing Research Discussion.

Putting new guidelines into practice is demanding. Nurses report implementation problems of no knowledge of the research process, lack of support from co-workers about new methods, and feeling left out of the decision-making process for changes (Black et al., 2015)The Outcomes Of Evidence-Based Nursing Research Discussion. Providing resources for a better understanding of the information supplied and implementing hands-on skill sessions are a few ways to ensure adequate participation and knowledge of research findings and producing new protocols.

After completing this course, I greatly desire to be involved in research. This course has allowed me to understand the rationales of new practices and protocols for nursing and their goal of improving patient health outcomes. Before researching, I viewed practice changes as added responsibilities and more work at the bedside. I did not realize research’s positive impact on patients and their health. Knowing the proper steps in conducting research and how to evaluate findings learned from this course makes me more confident in addressing practice problems. I can rely on evidence-based findings rather than voiced personal experiences, traditional ways of practice, and trials and errors.

Discussion Response

Thank you for such a great post. I concur with you that the outcomes of nursing research should be used to enhance patient care and safety. The dissemination of findings is the final step in the research process. As you have noted, there are many channels for disseminating research findings. The choice of dissemination channel is determined by the target audience, resources available, timelines, and objectives (Ashcraft et al., 2020). A researcher should consider the objectives to be achieved in research dissemination, such as raising awareness or initiating a change in practice. They must also consider strategies for determining whether or not the dissemination objectives were met (Nuttavuthisit, 2019)The Outcomes Of Evidence-Based Nursing Research Discussion. The target audience determines the choice of language and dissemination strategy. For instance, layman’s language is used when communicating with a local community group. The level of expertise in the research team and the funds needed to deliver the planned dissemination activities. The dissemination channels you have used will enhance comprehension and have the desired impact.

It is prudent to have strategies to overcome barriers to the dissemination of research findings. Some of the strategies include having a dissemination plan, gathering adequate resources for the dissemination activity, and training the disseminating team on communication skills and how to deliver the message. I agree with you that it can be quite demanding for nurses to put new guidelines into practice in the light of a huge workload. Implementing the new guidelines in small steps, providing regular appreciation, regular monitoring of progress, and modifying the strategic plan as may be required can also help promote the integration of research findings into practice (Martinsone et al., 2018)The Outcomes Of Evidence-Based Nursing Research Discussion. At an individual level, I have a great interest in health research since I love solving problems. I will endeavor to acquire more knowledge and skills to enable me to conduct research in the future. I have realized that nursing research helps improve patient outcomes and quality of life, and I would love to be a nurse researcher to develop new treatment protocols and find solutions to practice problems.
