The current project seeks to implement simulation in classroom teaching to help improve learning outcomes for nursing students. The project manager aims to enhance their development of nursing skills, clinical reasoning, and decision-making competencies. The evaluation will help the project team determine if the intervention is achieving its objectives. The evaluation plan for this intervention involves collecting data on students’ performance of skills taught during the simulation-based learning and their perceptions regarding the experience. Thus evaluation will include collecting data about students’ perceptions regarding the increase in knowledge, changes in self-confidence, and the impact of simulation on satisfaction with a learning experience.

Data will be collected using assessment tests to determine students’ knowledge and performance of skills after the implementation period. The project manager will use an assessment tool containing the responses by the students and expected competence in the performance of skills such as application of oxygen devices, starting intravenous lines, administering injectable drugs and other reskills as taught during the implementation. The evaluation of students’ perceptions will involve a survey whereby students will report and rate their satisfaction with the learning experience and the impact of simulation on their confidence.  The Evaluation Plan Assignment Discussion

The team responsible for collecting the data will be the project manager and the instructors. In cooperation with the instructors, the project manager will administer the assessment test and survey. During the evaluation, the PM and instructors will assess students, knowledge, skills, and perceptions about the impact of the simulation on their learning. Following the evaluation, the team will communicate the data collection results to themselves and the college administration during an in-person meeting. Our nursing training college has a culture of adopting evidence-based practices that support the preparation of students to gain the necessary competence as future nurses. The teaching staff is dedicated to providing high-standard instruction to prepare nurses to provide safe, effective, high-quality care to the diverse and changing patient population. Such factors would enhance the implementation of my current capstone change project that seeks to introduce simulation in classroom teaching to promote learning among our nursing students. However, potential challenges such as inadequate knowledge of teaching strategies, inadequate experience among the nurse educators concerning the use of simulation in instruction, and limited resources to implement the forms of simulation may derail the change project. The strategic plan for implementing simulation-based learning will involve the following sequence:

The project manager will engage the college management to procure up-to-date and durable equipment for simulation-based learning. The forms of simulation that would be implemented are role play, virtual simulation, computerized mannequins, and video games (Koukourikos et al., 2021). The college management will help equip the current laboratory with the supplies to enhance the replication of realism provided by simulation-based learning (Aebersold, 2018). Nurse educators will undergo on-job training to gain sufficient knowledge and skills for implementing simulation-based learning. Nurse educators will then integrate simulation into their contemporary teaching strategies.

The project manager will regularly supervise and insists on the implementation. Throughout the project, the Pm will periodically report any concerns, address challenges experienced in implementation, track the use of simulation equipment and adjust their use as necessary. The strategies are expected to effect simulation to improve students’ competence, clinical reasoning, and decision-making in nursing care.
