Summary of strengths:

Based on self-assessment of clinical skills, I have various strengths, which would be utilized in providing high-quality, effective, timely, and safe patient care. The first strength is recognizing psychiatric illness’s clinical signs and symptoms. I can recognize signs and symptoms of various psychiatric illnesses, including anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). According to, clinical manifestations forms the basis of diagnosing mental health illnesses, including mood disorders (Malhi et al., 2018)The Clinical Skills Self-Assessment Assignment . The second strength involves ability to differentiate between psychopathological and pathophysiological conditions. These conditions are differentiated based on clinical manifestations.

 

Opportunities for growth:

There are many opportunities for growth. Some areas require improvement to enhance my ability to provide high-quality patient care. First, I should improve my interpretation of a comprehensive patient’s medical history and physical examination results. Secondly, I should improve my ability to practices within scope of practice. Another area that requires improvement involves Providing psychoeducation to individuals and/or any caregivers.

1.       Goal: Enhancing the interpretation of a comprehensive patient’s medical history and physical examination results by 45% by week 3.

a.       Objective: To understand signs and symptoms of various psychiatric illnesses.

b.      Objective: To conduct necessary physical exam.

c.       Objective: Interpret patient’s physical exam results.

2.       Goal: Improving the ability to practices within scope of practice by 75% by week 4.

a.       Objective: Review scope of practice for Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.

b.       Objective: To understand guidelines for diagnosing and treating common acute psychiatric problems.

c.       Objective: To understand psychopharmacologic management for psychiatric illnesses.

3.       Goal: Increasing the provision of psychoeducation to individuals and/or any caregivers to 50% by week 6.

a.       Objective: Understanding psychoeducation needs for individual patients by interacting with them during mental health assessment.

b.      Objective: Analyzing the most effective techniques for providing psychoeducation, including phone education program or face-to-face interaction. According to Schladitz et al.
