The Application Of Evidence-Based Practice Discussion

Please respond to the discussion below
Research models are a critical component of evidence-based practice. Although
numerous models and viewpoints exist, each is essential for constructing and

enforcing new practice interventions to promote safe, professional, and better patient.’

care (Polit & Beck, 2021)The Application Of Evidence-Based Practice Discussion.

The model I selected for disseminating research is the ACE Star Model of

Knowledge Transformation. This model was formed at the San Antonio School of

Nursing promotes evidence-based practice research (Pape, 2003). The model

arranges evidence-based methods into a plan by illustrating connections amid

behaviors. The ACE Star Model of Knowledge objectives is advancing evidence-based

practices by outlining types of knowledge bases before new interventions are

integrated into practice (Gawlinski & Rutledge, 2008). The model outline includes the following: The Application Of Evidence-Based Practice Discussion

locating information, analyzing evidence, conveying data for practice

recommendations, incorporation into practice, and evaluations (Gawlinski & Rutledge,

2008).

The long-term goal of this model is to transform the research information gathered

through the steps mentioned above to promote health outcomes with evidence-based

healthcare practices (Gawlinski & Rutledge, 2008).

The ACE Star Model of Knowledge Transformations’ framework of steps allows for

recurrent and multiplex evidence-based changes to be visualized with ease.

Evaluations with this model can allow for new findings; therefore, the model is easily

repeated (Pape, 2003). The model has been welcomed for its ease of understanding

evidence-based changes while assisting with revolving processes for better patient

care interventions (Pape, 2003)The Application Of Evidence-Based Practice Discussion.

Dissemination of research should include educational opportunities that allow for

hands-on training with question-and-answer forums. Other recommended ways to

ensure successful evidence-based practice are dedicated classes, annual skill fairs,

and elect “super users” capable of floating to departments to guide new

interventions. Research models can show facilities engaging departments in more

evidence-based research (Gawlinski & Rutledge, 2008).

Thank you for sharing such a great post. I agree with you that several theoretical models have been developed to guide the application of evidence-based practice (EBP) into nursing practice. The theoretical models are intended to strengthen evidence-based decision making. Your choice of the ACE Star Model of Knowledge Transformation is good as it provides a comprehensive approach to translate evidence into practice.  The model also provides an efficient means of accessing a summary of all available research (knowledge bases) on a given topic instead of being submerged in the volume of research reports (Indra, 2019. The ACE model recognizes that some barriers may impede EBP implantation. Therefore, it highlights them when moving from evidence into practice and formulates EBP-grounded solutions.

The model has been hailed for offering a pragmatic approach to teaching new nurses the utilization of research into practice and providing an inclusive framework to organize EBP processes. As you have noted, dissemination of research is an important process, and it is necessary to create opportunities for training. Some barriers to EBP implementation include inadequate knowledge on EBP process or search for evidence; lack of skills and EBP awareness; low acceptance of new approaches; and negative perception towards EBP and research. These barriers can be eliminated through training and educating nurses and other healthcare workers on the need for EBP and the implementation process (Garcia, 2020)The Application Of Evidence-Based Practice Discussion. This training should be hands-on to equip the trainees with the requisite skills and competencies for EBP implementation. Training will help nurses to change and correct any negative beliefs about EBP and, ultimately, result in the development of an organizational culture that supports EBP. I conclude that EBP models exist to guide the organization to improve its care efficiencies and deliver patient-centric care. All healthcare workers should be educated on the importance of working as members of inter-disciplinary teams to implement EBP.
