Question 1: Patient compliance and explain its importance in my field

Patient compliance is defined as the accomplishment of behaviors such as taking prescribed medications and following recommendations provided by heat care providers such as adopting a healthy lifestyle/ lifestyle change (Naghavi et al. 2019). Patient compliance is important in my field as it leads to improved treatment outcomes. Compliant patients follow the recommendations, which contributes to therapeutic success. Naghavi et al. (2019) posit that non-compliance with therapy has considerable impacts on therapeutic and clinical outcomes and leads to readmission and disease progression.

Question 2:  Health care professionals’ role in compliance and give examples of ways in which the health care professional may contribute to noncompliance

The role of healthcare professionals includes adequately educating the patient about the treatment plan and communicating with the patient in an understanding, respectful and dignified way.  Aremu et al. (2022) indicate that providers are influential in encouraging compliance by acting as role models and increasing awareness. Healthcare providers can contribute to noncompliance by not paying attention to patients and not encouraging patients to ask questions and failing to include them in decision-making and treatment plans.  According to Naghavi et al.
