Health Policy
Throughout the week eight capstone change course and the practicum project on COVID-19 prevention among pediatric patients, and through my preceptor, who is a case manager, I have learned several health policies that can be implemented to educate the pediatric patients on what they need to do not avoid contracting COVID-19. One health policy that can be proposed is the implementation of COVID-19 educational posters in pediatric patients’ rooms. Posters could have information on how to prevent the virus from spreading and what to do if they contract the virus (Brian & Weintraub, 2020). In addition, healthcare providers could talk with pediatric patients about COVID-19 and provide them with resources to prevent the virus. The other health policy that could be implemented is the implementation of COVID-19 prevention kits in pediatric patients’ homes. Kits could include information on preventing the virus from spreading and what to do if they contract the virus.
Through developing these health policies, with the help of my preceptor, I learned my strengths and weaknesses. The strength I learned this week is that I am a good team player. According to Rosen et al. (2018)Professional Capstone And Practicum Reflective Assignment, teamwork in healthcare is key to ensuring safe, high-quality care. That is why it was important to possess this attribute to cooperate with my preceptor to develop ideas for implementing COVID-19 prevention policies in pediatric patients’ homes and classrooms. The weakness I learned this week is that I am not very good at developing ideas independently. I needed help from my preceptor to develop some ideas on how to prevent COVID-19.
Based on the health policies developed, the additional resources that could be introduced to influence optimal outcomes for the project include; educational materials on COVID-19 prevention, provision of masks and gloves to pediatric patients, and support from healthcare providers. The findings of the study by Singh et al. (2020) suggest that these resources will be important in helping pediatric patients understand how to prevent the virus from spreading and what to do if they contract it. Additionally, these resources will help healthcare providers better understand how to care for pediatric patients who have contracted COVID-19. Professional Capstone And Practicum Reflective Assignment
In conclusion, the health policies developed during this week were successful in helping to prevent COVID-19 from spreading and improving the care of pediatric patients who have contracted the virus. Through my preceptor, I learned that I had strengths which can help me to deliver better care to patients and weaknesses, which I should deal by cooperating with other healthcare providers to get assistance on why may be challenging me in the delivery of better healthcare.

Throughout the week seven capstone change course and the practicum project on COVID-19 prevention among pediatric patients, I have learned a great deal about how to effectively design the project, plan, implement interventions, evaluate outcomes and disseminate data. Importantly, I have gained a greater understanding of pediatric patients and their families’ challenges when trying to prevent Covid-19. This is because my practice area is pediatrics, specifically in an acute care hospital. My capstone change project proposal is education and prevention of Covid-19 in children and their families in the acute hospital Professional Capstone And Practicum Reflective Assignment.
Through the help of my preceptor, who is a case manager, I learned to create an action plan to prevent the spread of Covid -19 in my patient population. The practicum project has reinforced these skills by providing me with an opportunity to implement my knowledge in a real-world setting. I have worked with several pediatric nurses, physicians, patients, and their families, and I have learned how to identify and monitor potential exposures to Covid -19. During the capstone course, I have demonstrated leadership and inquiry by identifying gaps in practice and designing a project to keep my pediatric patients safer from Covid -19 infection.
The Covid -19 education and prevention project has helped me learn about my strengths and weakness. My strengths during this time include staying organized, managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and having a strong work ethic. However, I also have some weaknesses. One of these is my tendency to be perfectionistic and over-analyze things. Perfectionism can lead to stress and anxiety that interferes with one’s ability to function at a high level (Rozental, 2020)Professional Capstone And Practicum Reflective Assignment. My strengths and weaknesses will need to be evaluated and improved upon, but I am confident I can do so. In the future, I will continue to maintain a positive attitude and work hard to improve my weaknesses.
Additional resources that could be introduced to influence optimal outcomes for the project include articles on the disease, patient resources, and online videos about Covid-19 prevention. Finally, resources such as EHRs used to record patients’ demographics, medical history, and medications (Kruse et al., 2018). Using technology in this project would help improve health care outcomes because it will support the delivery of patient care. Electronic health records allow for the electronic capture and storage of patient data, including medical history, medications, and allergies. This information can then improve patient care by tracking and monitoring the patient’s health progress.
In summary, the Capstone Change Course and the practicum project are both extremely valuable experiences. They have taught me a great deal about myself and my abilities, as well as how to serve my patients better. I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated in these programs, and I hope to continue learning and growing as a nurse.
