Personal Philosophy Statement
My philosophy for nursing practice dates back to my childhood. I developed the desire to serve others during my early stages of life. At the tender age of 9, I was committed to assisting others, especially the less fortunate community members. I could join other community members in charity programs since I felt responsible for making others comfortable by improving their lives. As I was growing up, the urge to serve others strengthened. I realized that pursuing a nursing course would equip me with the skills and knowledge needed to serve community members by providing them with quality healthcare. Nurse Practitioner Professional Career Planner Assignment Paper
My definition of nursing is a career that requires commitment and dedication to meeting other people’s needs. A nurse must be committed to providing others with selfless and high-quality care. Furthermore, nurses must focus on meeting all healthcare needs of an individual patient through their high-quality and holistic care. A nurse should avoid administering medication to an individual patient without considering other areas, including mental, psychological, and spirituality. (Taylor et al., 2018) nursing is an art and a science that focuses on treating presenting symptoms while making the patient feel comfortable. Nurse practitioners can only achieve the goal of holistic and person-centered care by considering other factors that influence the patient’s health, in particular, the environment and social factors.
As a Family nurse practitioner (FNP), I will apply the competence acquired during the program to provide high-quality care to all my patients at the primary care office. Additionally, I will promote interdisciplinary and collaborative care to achieve optimal health outcomes. Furthermore, I will incorporate evidence-based approaches into nursing practices for better health outcomes (Cleary‐Holdforth et al., 2021)Nurse Practitioner Professional Career Planner Assignment Paper. Therefore, my skills, experience, and competence will boost my practice as an FNP, resulting in desired health outcomes.

Personal Goals
As a FNP student, I have set short- and long-term goals.
Short-Term Goals
Goal 1: To improve physical examination and documentation skills in the next two weeks. I will achieve this goal by reviewing class notes and guidelines on physical examination. This competence will enable me to collect patients’ vitals and document them in electronic health records in my future practice as an FNP. Studies show that patient’s medical data documented in electronic records is easily accessible, making the healthcare delivery process efficient (Tanwar et al., 2022).
Goal 2: To pass the National Certification Board Exam by the end of the semester. I will achieve this goal by attending all classes and reading comprehensively for the final exam. Passing this exam is important since it will indicate the acquisition of all required competencies, making me eligible for accreditation.
Goal 3: To get certified a few months after completing the FNP Board Exam. I will achieve this goal by passing the certification exam and applying for state licensure as a FNP. Obtaining board certification in a particular specialty allows an NP to start practicing in the state licensure (Buppert, 2023). Thus, being accredited will allow me to practice as a FNP.
Long-Term Goals
Goal 1: To secure a job in a primary care office as a FNP within three months of being accredited. I will be able to practice as a FNP by sending several job applications. Securing a job in a primary care office as an FNP will allow me to apply the competencies acquired during the program in providing high-quality patient care (Faraz, 2019)Nurse Practitioner Professional Career Planner Assignment Paper.
Goal 2: To develop new skills within six months after securing a job as a FNP. I will enhance my skills by collaborating with other clinicians during care delivery. Moreover, caring for patients with different conditions in the primary care setting will further improve my nursing skills.
Goal 3: To start and run my practice in the next three hours. I will achieve this goal by completing recommended hours and obtaining practice certifications for the state board of nursing. As an FNP, owning a practice will allow me to independently assess and treat patients presenting to the family care clinic with various acute illnesses.
