The target population will be young women diagnosed with PCOS. The main reason for choosing this target population is that young women usually have positive ambitions for marriage and children as they advance in age. Hence, by inducing the grounded theory method, it will be easier to acknowledge the attitudes, behavioral, psychological, emotional, and physical changes that may affect a young woman’s sense of self after realizing they have polycystic ovary syndrome How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self.
The most appropriate sampling method to answer the question is the application of purposeful sampling. According to Doyle et al. (2020), purposeful sampling enables the researcher to engage research participants that will provide more light to study phenomena. In such a case, we will evaluate diversity in the study population’s similarity to understand how PCOS influences a young woman’s life. That means we will conduct our research in a naturalistic setting to help set the mood for the research topic.
The question will take a qualitative approach using the grounded theory method, which will help create theories and hypotheses using inductive reasoning. In that case, data collection will be mainly through interviews and open-ended questions to enable result comparison. The sample question will be:
- What was your first reaction after realizing that you have PCOS?
- Were your family and friends supportive after realizing your PCOS condition?
- What have you planned regarding managing the PCOS condition and fulfilling your life plans?
The questions will be effective in helping the research identify the changes that occur once a young woman realizes they have PCOS. Also, these questions will be necessary since the research will identify social trends and cultural beliefs that may influence the behaviors of the target patient population How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self.

Section A.
For each of the three proposed research scenarios below (Questions 1-3), work together to briefly NAME and then describe an appropriate sampling approach to use (only one answer per question, please) for each of the three investigations mentioned below. Additionally, just for Questions 1 and 2 below, you also need to specify which study design (e.g. case-control study, cohort study, RCT, or any other study design you learned in this course) you would use to conduct this investigation. You will lose points if these instructions are not followed.
Then for question 4 below, just answer that question.
IMPORTANT: The notes under the lecture slides, in the pdf files posted beneath the audios, will really help you on a couple of questions here. I mentioned the importance of these notes in the Intro to the Course video.

Section B.
- Describe an appropriate sampling approach to address your specified quantitative/epidemiological question about surveillance, risk prediction OR a cause and effect assessment. You don’t need to cover all three. Just choose surveillance, risk prediction OR a cause and effect assessment. Be sure to see the bolded instructions above near B and include all parts to answer this question How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self
For this question, you will develop your own research question (not one from a published study) that would be appropriate to answer.
NOTE: YOUR RESEARCH QUESTION MUST NOT BE IN ANY WAY SIMILAR TO THE PROVIDED RESEARCH QUESTIONS IN PREVIOUS SCENARIOS/QUESTIONS APPEARING ABOVE ON THIS ASSIGNMENT.
Then mention the study design (e.g., case-control study, cohort study, RCT, or any other study design) and briefly explain why is it the appropriate study design to use to answer your research question.
NOTE: THE RESEARCH QUESTION, THAT YOU DEVELOP, MUST USE A DIFFERENT STUDY DESIGN THAN THE ONE YOU USED IN EITHER OF YOUR ANSWERS FOR QUESTIONS 1A AND 1B.
Lastly, briefly name and describe the sampling strategy you would use as part of your research scenario. Your sampling approach does NOT need to be different than the ones you used in Q1A and Q1b.
Remember to answer all of these parts for this question otherwise you will lose points. Again, you cannot use a research question that is similar to previous scenarios/questions appearing above on this assignment and you cannot use a study design already used above in either of your answers for Q1a and Q1b. If you do, you may not receive any credit for your answer. Develop a totally different scenario and research question. (3 points)How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self
State your own research question (not from a published paper):
Specify which study design you would use (can’t be the same as Q1a and Q1b) and briefly name and describe one of the sampling approaches to answer your research question. Briefly justify your choice for your study design choice and sampling approach choice).
2) Choose a public health research question that would be appropriate to investigate using qualitative methods. Again, you cannot use a research question that is similar to previous scenarios/questions appearing above on this assignment. Develop a totally different scenario and research question. State your research question, select a key qualitative method (numerous lecture slides mention and define these key methods) to explore your research question (it does not have to me different than the ones used above) but be sure to justify your selection. Then name, describe and justify which sample approach you would use (does not have to be different than the ones used above. (3 points)How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self
State your own research question (not one from a published study):
Your response should also include brief details on the following:
- target population/types of content you aim to sample
- name, describe and justify the key qualitative research method
- briefly name, justify and describe the sampling approach, including traits used for stratification (if stratifying)
- examples of data you would collect (this can be 2-3 open-ended questions, or variable you would use or type of information you would extract – which one of these you use will be based on the key method you choose)How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self.
Group Project Questions
Question One
Research Question: We need to evaluate the problems uninsured men with prostate cancer face in the United States.
Study Design and Sampling Method
The study design that will be more appropriate for the question is the correlation research design. On the same, the sampling method for the question will be stratified sampling, one of the probability sampling methods.
Study Design and Sampling Method Justification
Correlational research is more of non-experimental research which aims at measuring two variables. Hence, the variables presented by the research question are lack of insurance and problems men with prostate cancer face. The researchers will aim to acknowledge the correlation between them. According to Bloomfield and Fisher (2019)How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self, correlation research design has three types, negative, positive, and no correlation. In that case, a negative correlation indicates that when one variable increases, the other decreases. For the positive correlation, the researcher may assess the relationship between these variables such that when one increases, the other variable increases. When there is no correlation, the researchers will note that neither the decrease nor an increase of the variables affects each other. Therefore, in our case, we will evaluate the correlation between lack of insurance and the problems that men with prostate cancer face. As a group, we believe that the research design is effective for the question since correlation research is common in the medical world.
Probability sampling gives every member of a research population an equal chance to be selected and is more common in quantitative research. The sampling method will be more appropriate since the research question focuses on the general men population in the United States, thus needing these men representatives (Doyle et al., 2020)How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self. However, due to the diverse nature of probability sampling, we will engage in stratified sampling. Stratified sampling will help us divide the participants into sub-groups referred to as strata since men with prostate cancer and uninsured vary in job role, income bracket, and age range. Hence, stratified sampling will help us achieve precise conclusions by representing different strata.
Question Two: Public Health Research Question
Research Question: We want to assess ways young women manage polycystic ovary syndrome.
The question will take a qualitative approach using the grounded theory method, which will help create theories and hypotheses using inductive reasoning. The main reason is that young women usually have ambitions for marriage and children as young women grow. Hence, by inducing the grounded theory method, it will be easier to acknowledge the attitudes, behavioral, psychological, emotional, and physical changes that may affect a young woman after realizing they have polycystic ovary syndrome.
The most appropriate sampling method to answer the question is the application of purposeful sampling. According to Doyle et al. (2020)How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self, purposeful sampling enables the researcher to engage research participants that will provide more light to study phenomena. In such a case, we will evaluate diversity in the study population’s similarity to understand how PCOS influences a young woman’s life. In that case, data collection will be mainly through interviews and observations to enable result comparison. That means our research will be conducted in a naturalistic setting to help set the mood for the research topic.
Question Three
Question three: How do the chemotherapy patients manage bowel complications like constipation?
The research question will be more of a case study with the chemotherapy patients’ target population. The research will take a qualitative approach since it aims to find the experiences and what they mean to the chemotherapy patients instead of generalizing the results (Doyle et al., 2020). That means the research will not be used in testing a hypothesis, but it may be used later to develop a hypothesis for extensive research derived from the research findings.
Considering that the research will engage content analysis to evaluate the data collected from the questionnaire and interview, the most appropriate sampling method will be random sampling since it will give the research participants equal chances. That is because content analysis requires the evaluation of different communication messages to identify themes and patterns that will be beneficial to chemotherapy patients to manage their bowel issues effectively.
The data collection will involve open-ended questionnaires and interviews, which include:
- How often do bowel issues occur?
- Do you experience any pain when bowel issues come up? How can you rate the degree of pain you experience?
- What kind of interventions has your healthcare facility offered so far? How Does PCOS Diagnosis Impact Young Women Sense Of Self
Such questions will help us in evaluating different chemotherapy patients’ experiences with bowel issues. Also, the questions will help identify the common bowel issue management that most healthcare engage in, which may be more appropriate for the chemotherapy patients.
