Clinical Examination Of The Breast, Prostate, And Pelvic Discussion
Clinical exam of the breast, prostate, and pelvic is significant in clinical practice. They demonstrate the ability of a nursing officer to successfully examine patients and give a report of their health status. The model of exam used is a critical preventive and diagnostic tool that can help the patient discover their health status early and help in developing preventive measures. During the clinical practice, we used simulation techniques and manikin in practicing examinations. The professor guided us through three groups where every group took turns in practicing breast, prostate, and pelvic examinations. Clinical Examination Of The Breast, Prostate, And Pelvic Discussion

Breast Exam
During the breast exam, the most critical aspect was how to palpate the breast in a simulator model and be able to identify the lumps present and whether they are fibrous or cancerous. An important aspect of a breast exam is to first evaluate the skin in order to see if there are abnormalities and then make palpation using the circle technique. While making the palpation, the circles start from the other side of the patient’s breast where you move the finger gradually around the breast in a circular pattern. Continue moving the fingers around the breast in smaller and smaller circles towards the nipple. In addition, it is critical to evaluate the upper arm and the underarm (Henderson, 2022). While making the palpation keen to feel any abnormal mass or lump on the breast. The exam is vital and gives a nurse the experience and ability to clinically make decisions using the simulator model.
Prostate exam
The prostate exam was an important practice and we learned how to use digital rectal examination (DRE) using the simulator model. The prostate exam is crucial in helping clinicians identify the spread of carcinoma or lesion on the prostate gland. Training how to use DRE is a crucial experience with the simulator model before one practices with an actual patient. The initial step is to make the patent comfortable and can be asked to take a deep breath while they are in the left lateral position. The clinician should first wash hands and fit the non-sterile gloves. The first thing is to inspect the anal region and then insert the right index finger to identify any anal tone. They should be able to feel the posterior and lateral walls to identify the presence of any rectal masses. The finger should be swept side to side to note the smoothness, lumps, consistency, medical sulcus, and symmetrical aspects. The last thing is to withdraw the finger and note any presence of melena or blood (Naji, 2018). A prostate exam was an important experience in assessing a patient’s health status of the prostate gland. The most critical thing in this exam is making patients comfortable and explaining to them every move to make them aware of what happening and explaining any abnormality during the exam.
Pelvic Exam Clinical Examination Of The Breast, Prostate, And Pelvic Discussion
The exam on the pelvic was delivered using a set of two anatomies including normal and abnormal which demonstrates diverse type of exam. The exam is crucial for several issues affecting female patients including identifying pelvic or abdominal issues. An important tool in conducting pelvic exams is Pederson’s speculum. The initial step is to ensure patients are comfortable, there is enough lighting, and that patient has emptied their bladder before the exam. The next thing is to palpate the patient to feel any abdominal masses, and also explore the vulva for rashes. The exploration of normal and abnormal anatomies helps in assessing pelvic conditions before one is presented with an actual patient (Danielsson et al., 2021). This helps in finding out the abnormal and normal gynecological results for pelvic exams. The pelvic exam turned into an important test one important thing about the test is that patient comfort was key in building their confidence and making their bodies ready for the exam.
The breasts, prostate, and pelvic exam are crucial ways through which clinical skills are gained before one practices with actual patients. Crucial aspects are learned in these exams about ways to start and undertake tests. An important lesson in all the exams is that patient comfort is vital and being able to explain to them every step for comfort and confidence Clinical Examination Of The Breast, Prostate, And Pelvic Discussion

What we do in clinical skill is that practice Breast exam, prostate exam, and pelvic exam.
During a clinical skill we practice with the simulation/ manikin. Professor divided in 3 groups, and each group take turns how to practice for breast exam, prostate exam, and pelvic exam. Clinical Examination Of The Breast, Prostate, And Pelvic Discussion
For breast exam, we learn the technique how to do patient breast exam, then identify if the lump is cancer or fibrous breast tissue by using simulator model. First, I inspect patient skin looking for abnormality of the skin, then palpate patient using circle technique. Circles: Beginning at the outer edge of pt breast, move fingers slowly around the whole breast in a circle. Move around the breast in smaller and smaller circles, gradually working toward the nipple. Don’t forget to check the underarm and upper chest areas, too. Feel for any unusual lump or mass under the skin. Keep in mind that sometimes, the lumpiness may be due to menstrual changes. This clinical, allow us to think clinically and be able to hands on simulator model……
For Prostate exam, we learn how to do an DRE examination with simulator model. This model has 3 different features interchangeable rectum units for identification of lesion types such as
normal prostate gland, the spread of carcinoma is demonstrated in this gland. The small nodule has increased in size and has become an external hard mass on the surface of the gland. This DRE skill really helpful training before examining actual patients….. can be performed with very realistic tactile experience……
As they start the DRE, the doctor may ask you to relax and take a deep breath. Then they will gently insert a lubricated, gloved finger into your rectum. The doctor will feel the size of your prostate gland. They will also feel for bumps, soft or hard spots, or other abnormal areas Clinical Examination Of The Breast, Prostate, And Pelvic Discussion.
For The Pelvic Exam module is delivered with a set of two interchangeable (normal and abnormal) anatomies that represent different exam types. These anatomies enable the us to virtually encounter and learn various pelvic conditions before we perform the exam on a live patient. We gain the ability to recognize normal and abnormal gynecological findings and practice using the proper techniques to perform pelvic exams…….
