The scholarly activity that I attended was morbidity and mortality (M&M) meetings. These are recurring conferences that are usually held by various medical centres such as large private surgical and medical practices (George, 2017). In some patients, complications, deterioration, or even death are inevitable because of the underlying disease processes. Even so, they could also be linked to omissions or errors in patient care. Morbidity and mortality meetings entail analyzing the adverse outcomes in patient care by means of peer review (Brennum & Gjerris, 2014). This paper provides a summary report of the M&M meetings that I participated in as part of a scholarly activity. The summary report includes the who, what, when, and where of this scholarly activity. Morbidity and Mortality Meetings
The scholarly activity that I took part in outside of my clinical practice is morbidity and mortality meetings. The M&M meetings that I attended were held at the hospital’s conference hall. Regarding the time, the meetings were held the last Thursday of every month starting at 10:45 am. In total, I participated in about 12 morbidity and mortality meetings over a period of about one year.
