Evidence-Based Article Review Assignment Paper
Summary of article
Goense et al.’s (2016) study explores the relationship between treatment integrity and ouctomes of evidence-based interventions for juveniles with antisocial behavior. While the authors cited many studies that explored the effect of treatment integrity on treatment outcomes for antisocial behavior, they pointed out that these studies were not targeted at juveniles with antisocial behavior. In addition, the authors noted that ignoring treatment integrity and outcomes could have serious negative effects on juveniles and the society to include leaving juveniles with underserved or unserved problems that expose the community to criminal behavior and financial costs. In contrast, Goense and others sought to examine the effect of treatment integrity (delivering treatment as intended) on the evidence-based treatment effectiveness for juveniles with antisocial behavior even while taking the operationalization of the treatment integrity into account. Further, they conducted a meta-analysis, applying a secondary research approach that analyzed 17 studies. The study results revealed that high level of treatment integrity resulted in medium to large effect of evidence-based interventions. The reverse is true, with the study showing that low level of integrity is associated with no significant effect of evidence-based intervention. Based on the findings, the authors concede that while delivering evidence-based intervention with high level of integrity is difficult to achieve owing to real world factors coming into play within the juvenile ecosystem, it is an important goal to pursue as it helps in significantly reducing juvenile antisocial behavior Evidence-Based Article Review Assignment Paper.

Detailed analysis of article
Geonse et al. (2016) is an example of an innovative study that explores the application of evidence-based practice. While evidence-based practice is typically taken as a given with predictable outcomes, the authors look at treatment integrity as a noteworthy factor that affects treatment outcomes when evidence-based practice is applied. In other words, the authors try to make it clear to the audience that evidence-based practice should be applied with high levels of integrity to improve the treatment outcomes. Considering the difficulty in achieving high level of integrity, Goense and others justify the effort by focusing on the treatment outcomes. It is important to note that the authors do not try to insist on achieving high levels of integrity as this is difficult. Rather, they argue for pursuing high levels of integrity to significantly improve the effects of evidence-based intervention as low levels of integrity as associated with no significant effect of evidence-based intervention.
Usefulness of information and contribution to field of pediatric mental health
Goense et al. (2016) is relevant to the treatment of juveniles with antisocial behavior, with the results having implications for pediatric mental health. It supports the argument for pursuing high level of integrity when applying evidence-based practice in the treatment of juveniles with antisocial behavior. In pursuing and achieving high levels of treatment integrity, there is an expectation of treatment fidelity such that the treatment is implemented as intended. To be more precise, it ensures that the intended treatment is applied as designed, with all the procedures specified in the treatment protocol applied without supplementing any of the prescribed tasks with other procedures. This ensures that the intended intervention is closely matched by the intended intervention. This information is important for disseminating evidence-based practice and improving quality of services as it helps in validating the intervention as achieving the intended outcomes. It shows that applying treatment with high integrity increases the chances of achieving outcomes similar to those reported in the original efficacy research that supported the evidence-based practice. The article contributes to pediatric mental health by showing that pursuing high treatment integrity in pediatric mental health can achieve positive treatment outcomes, especially when evidence-based practice is applied (Grove & Gray, 2022)Evidence-Based Article Review Assignment Paper.
Incorporate ideas in clinical setting
The article argues for pursuing high levels of treatment integrity when applying evidence-based practice. It shows that effort applied in pursuing high level of integrity is not wasted, with the analyzed statistics and trends from previous studies indicating that high level of treatment integrity results in medium to large effect of evidence-based interventions while low level of integrity is associated with no significant effect of evidence-based intervention. Incorporating these ideas into clinical setting would involve matching the efficacy research that supports the evidence-based practice to the treatment plan to achieve consistently similar outcomes (Grove & Gray, 2022)Evidence-Based Article Review Assignment Paper.
Include Christian worldview
The Christian worldview offers a unique perspective on integrity: considering it as quality of not being corruptible, adherence to a code of artistic or moral values, being complete or whole, and being fair and honest. This means that the words and actions must lineup. If evidence-based practice is to be applied, then that should be the case with all treatment protocols being matched. Having treatment integrity should means that if the providers claim to apply evidence-based practice, then that is what the applied treatment protocols should reflect. While perfection would be difficult to achieve, but hopefully there should be clear effort in pursuing integrity (2nd Corinthians 4:2; Ephesians 6:6; James 4:17)Evidence-Based Article Review Assignment Paper.
