Statistical Tests Used In Nursing Research Paper
Research aids in making decisive conclusions and predictions. To make those predictions, data has to be collected and analyzed. Statistics helps digest the data to conclusive patterns concerning the general area of study (Spurlock Jr, et al, 2018)Statistical Tests Used In Nursing Research Paper. There are different statistical tests depending on the distribution of data collected, the research design used, and the type of variables. This research paper tackles one of the common statistical tests used in nursing research.

The statistical test of choice is the t-test. A t-test is used to compare the averages of two clusters. It is used to test a hypothesis to evaluate whether a solution has an effect on the studied population. With a t-test, there is ease of calculation, robustness, ease of data collection, and simplicity in results elucidation (Spurlock Jr, et al, 2018). There are three types of t-tests based on the type of data being compared. If the means being compared are from the same population then a paired t-test is used. When the means are from different populations, an independent t-test is used. The last type is the one-sample t-test which is used to test a mean against a standard value (Jankowski, et al, 2018)Statistical Tests Used In Nursing Research Paper.
To use a t-test, the assumption is that the average or mean derived is from data that follows a constant scale (Jankowski, et al, 2018). Take for example research to evaluate the significance level of coronavirus treatment. The research observes the differences in attributes between a sample of patients receiving treatment and those not receiving any intervention. Patients are given test scores according to their health factors. The test scores are averaged and tested against each other to determine the significance level of the treatment Statistical Tests Used In Nursing Research Paper.
