Throughout my learning practicum, I have identified the crucial role of leadership in influencing the quality of patient care and organizational performance. Organizational performance and improved patient care are determined by how leaders treat their employees. Leaders who respect, value, support, and care for staff members are assured of commitment that improves patient outcomes (Kline, 2019). A significant skill I have built on and has become a key strength is inclusion in several leadership roles I have had to play during the course. Inclusion is when leaders involve staff members in the decision-making process. Incorporating inclusion in leadership contributes to employees feeling valued, respected, appreciated, and equitable treatment. An inclusive environment encourages open communication, which improves job satisfaction. I also identified a weakness when deploying a dictatorship leadership style as employees lack the freedom to express themselves. I also identified applying a transformational leadership style in different situations that help achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Transformational leadership is an approach where a leader’s attributes and behavior help empower and motivate the subordinates (Collins et al., 2019)Leadership And Economic Models Discussion. For example, a leader can ensure they always observe hand hygiene which their associates will follow to prevent hospital-acquired infections. I have also learned the crucial role of applying economic models during decision-making, especially when resources are inadequate. Additionally, I have identified the implications of deploying various financial decision models in implementing prevention and treatment approaches that are effective and cost-effective.
