Alsubhi, Meskell, Shea, & Doody (2020) examined the effects of missing nursing care, including the intention to leave, using an integrated assessment of qualitative and quantitative research. Whittemore and Knafl’s methodological approach served as the foundation for this integrative review, which also followed the 14 phases noted by Doody (2020)The Basis For The Integrative Review Discussion. A literature search, evaluation of credible primary source articles covering the period from January 1, 2006, to October 31, 2019, analysis and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data, and presentation of the integrated findings as conclusions were the steps in the process.

This sampling plan enables the integration of a wide variety of research methodologies to offer a diversity of viewpoints and a deeper comprehension of the subject. However, the mix and complexity of utilizing multiple methodologies and strategies might result in a lack of objectivity, bias, and inaccuracy. A representative sample is one drawn from a larger group that properly reflects the characteristics of the entire population. As a researcher, I would do a literature search for source papers from January 1, 2006, until 2022 to recruit a more accurate and diverse representative sample The Basis For The Integrative Review Discussion.

Researchers encounter ethical problems at every level of the research process, from design to reporting. These include confidentiality, anonymity, explicit consent, and the possible influence of the researchers on the subjects. Given the nature of qualitative research, interactions between researchers and study participants can often be ethically hard for the former because they are directly involved in various stages of the study. As a result, the development of precise ethical principles in this regard appears to be critical. When functioning as qualitative researchers, it appears to be critical that health care practitioners, educators, and physicians are well versed in all elements of their work The Basis For The Integrative Review Discussion.

Thank you for posting. As you have noted, the research used Whittemore and Knafl’s methodological approach as the basis for the integrative review. Cronin and George (2020) noted that an integrative review enables a researcher to evaluate the strength of scientific evidence, identify research gaps and conceptual frameworks, and explore research methods. However, the methods of synthesis and drawing conclusions are not well formulated in integrative reviews (Busetto et al., 2020). I agree with you that a representative sample is the one whose characteristics closely match those of the larger population. A representative sample enables a researcher to confidently generalize results to a larger population. A researcher can obtain a representative sample by using appropriate sampling methods and ensuring the sample is large and adequate.

A researcher is bound by ethics, which helps them to plan their research within moral bounds. It is true that researchers may find their interactions with participants ethically challenging, especially in qualitative studies. This is because the participants in many qualitative studies are humans, and their rights and dignity must be maintained at all stages of the research (Sawatsky et al., 2019). It is important to maintain research ethics to promote moral and social value and to hold researchers accountable in the event of research misconduct. Research ethics promotes the principal aim of conducting research—to search for truth, knowledge, and avoid errors (Sawatsky et al., 2019)The Basis For The Integrative Review Discussion. Research work involves a collaborative effort. For a researcher to receive credit for their contributions, they must adhere to ethical norms and guidelines for patenting, copyright, and data-sharing policies. There is an increasing use of research in clinical practice. Therefore, researchers should maintain research ethics when developing evidence-based practices and guidelines.
