Samples and Data Collection

The report provides a detailed account of nursing workforce data based on the 2018 results of the National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses (NSSRN).  The report indicated that at least 3.9 million licensed registered nurses were living in the United States, and close to 3.2 million (83%) held a nursing-related job placement. Equally, increased multicultural diversity of the nursing workforce was also identified as a key development attributed to the growing number of nursing practitioners from minority groups/communities and men. The data also indicated that at least 64% of the registered nurse workforce has college education. Other key features of the sample include: the growing population of advanced practice registered nurses, reaching about 12% of the total workforce (U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2019)The Nursing Workforce Data Based Discussion.

The data that I found interesting was on the growing utilization of telehealth in the nursing practice. Whilst around 33% of nurses’ workforces reported having some kind of telehealth capabilities, at least 50% of nurses utilized telehealth in their nursing practice (U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2019). This is an important finding since it indicates that healthcare-related health are becoming key drivers of care quality and delivery and hence telehealth technologies are vital in the provision of evidence-based, holistic, and patient-centered care and support.

The survey methodology was used for collecting data and information that was included in the report. The survey methods and tools enabled the researchers to collect key information and data on the questions raised to a pre-defined group of people (in this case registered nurses). Ideally, the U.S. Survey methodology is essentially designed and adopted with a total survey error approach for the sake of reducing non-response errors, coverage error, adjustment and processing error, measurement errors and sampling error (Pew Research Center, 2022)The Nursing Workforce Data Based Discussion. By conducting surveys with special populations (Nurses), the survey questionnaire was developed to ensure only unbiased and unambiguous questions are asked.
